A joint study by BCG and Nabu quantifies the increasing water stress in parts of Germany, which the water industry has long been aware of. Whether as stakeholders in drinking water supply or as wastewater disposal companies, they are helping to reduce water stress through targeted measures such as water reuse and sponge cities. The study also shows that local authorities (keywords: sealing, infiltration) and agriculture and forestry (keyword: sustainable soil management) must also do their part to protect groundwater reservoirs. And it becomes clear once again that taking action now is significantly cheaper than waiting and bearing the follow-up costs in the future.
